Last Minute Halloween Costume - Using Hot Glue
Halloween is only a few days away! Unfortunately with the move and work obligations, I waited until the last minute to make any Halloween inspired crafts.
That means that I had to think quick! Luckily, I know how to make a few quick Halloween items using hot glue! Check out the 10 Nifty Crafts for Fall and Halloween Using Hot Glue for your last-minute project!
I made a pair of fairy wings and a glitter wand.
First, I gathered my supplies. For the project, I used:
Glue gun
Floral wire
Acrylic paint
Tape
Glitter or any decorations like flowers, crystals, etc.
Mod Podge (not pictured)
Panty hose (not pictured)
Wax paper (or something to protect your surface.
With floral wire, I made a straight, long wire for the wand and tapes it around the base where it will be held to create a little bulk to grip it. Then, using the hot glue gun, wrap the entire wand in glue and allow it to dry.
I then decorated the wand. I used paint, glitter and Mod Podge to cover the entire wand. I personally wanted mine to look glittery and light, like a fairy wand rather than Harry Potter inspired.
Lastly, I used the panty hose to cover wing shapes that I made with the floral wire and hot glued on some flowers. You can't tell from the photos, but the wings and wand are covered in glitter! I am not so happy with the way the wand turned out, but for a quick, 1 day costume, not too bad.
Check out the video below for the tutorial that I used to make these fairy wings!
